SUMMARY OF ROLE

Assist senior estimator in preparing and generating accurate take-offs and bids for public works construction projects.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Solicit pricing and quotes from material suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Review proposal specifications, drawings and existing site conditions.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings as assigned to determine scope of work.
  • Participate in conceptual estimating to support design development requirements.
  • Review and prepare bid documentation required for proposal submittal, e. special insurance, bonds, DBE, etc.
  • Coordinate scope of work with, Project Manager(s), Subcontractors and/or Owner when required.
  • Maintain effective relationships with inspectors, utility representatives and other contractors. Consistently demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to code compliance.
  • Prepare estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work; includes all materials, labor, equipment and sub-contractors.
  • Maintain files of working documents as backup for estimates figures.
  • Prepare budgets and assist in creating preliminary project schedules. May include but is not limited to estimating extra work items, change orders, monitoring progress, tracking costs/budget, etc. Tasked with operating within budget.
  • Work collectively with management on operational and/or field service initiatives. Actively participate in strategic decision making.
  • Required to uphold Landscape Support Services quality and service standards.
  • Follow all company safety program standards and requirements and promote safety among peers, subordinates and supervisors.
  • Offer suggestions regarding efficiency, quality, service delivery, safety and risk management.
  • Attend staff meetings and training as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALFICATIONS

  • 3 years verifiable experience in similar field or trade at minimum.
  • High school diploma or educational equivalent required.
  • BA/BS degree desired in construction related field.
  • Driver’s license with clean driving record (2 points or less) required.
  • Computer skills, with working knowledge of the primary Microsoft Office programs.
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check and other pre-employment screening.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Able to lift & carry items up to 10 lbs. 5% of the day.
  • Able drive, walk, and stand throughout the day.
  • May need to kneel, bend at knees, and squat throughout the day.
  • Able to sit at a desk comfortably while working on a computer, for extended periods of time and up to 90% of the day.
